About The Boxes
Unique Box Art is dedicated to making solid hardwood boxes; each one hand made, different and using the beauty of the wood features, to create a usable piece of art. Since no two boxes are the same, you are assured of owning a one-of-a-kind treasure. And since each box is hand made by the artist, all wood grains are painstakingly matched up using many different woods and colors to complement each other. Every box is finished with hand rubbed Danish Oil and signed by the artist.

Alan Charney has worked with wood for over 30 years. He has built everything from small wood toys, puzzles, and candle holders, to full bedroom sets, Windsor chairs, and spinning wheels, to name a few – all by hand with limited electric tools. Alan has an eye for creating detailed and unique creations that are both visually appealing and versatile.

Alan has been in various publications, including Fine Woodworking Magazine. He lives in Northern Indiana with his wife Joyce on 30 wooded acres. Alan’s degree in engineering, and his experience as an engineering manager for over 20 years in the automotive and agricultural industry, has given his box art a decidedly structural and bold appearance.
